This is a special generational project between Gregg Builders and the Anderson Family which goes back many years to my grandfather George Gregg and Ron Anderson. Bruce and Colin Gregg worked on the original homestead doing some minor alterations in the early days when Colin was still an apprentice.

In 1995 Stuart and Debbie decided it was time for a new homestead and engaged with William Trengrove to design on the original site to encompass the already well-established garden and pool as well as out buildings.
This was Colin Gregg’s first big build in the position of Foreman with three guys under him on this challenging project. The homestead was completed in December 1996 and Stuart, Debbie and their three young children moved in and had many memorable years.
In 2019 unfortunately the homestead was totally destroyed by fire with only the concrete slab left. Colin still remembers the call from Stuart “we have had a bit of a fire in the homestead, and we need your help” when asked how bad the simple answer was with just the concrete slab is left.
Stuart and Debbie engaged Hierarchy Group to design the new improved homestead which was based on the original design with a large number of changes to bring this up to the latest ideas and also to accommodate the next generation in the future when they take over the farm. The property has impact the moment you turn into the tree lined driveway and pull up to the entranceway. Oamaru stonework, natural western red cedar weatherboards and coloursteel roof blends in well with the natural environment. The build is a statement, and you know straight away that you have arrived at the homestead of the Black Rock Property.
Once you step inside to the main entrance the feature stairs set a statement with lighting to match. Downstairs there is stunning English Kitchen with butler’s pantry which Debbie spends many hours in with her passion for cooking. The open living area is a great family space with log fire and plenty of room. This also opens up to the north deck which faces direct north and a beautiful sunny area overlooking the established garden. Off the living area there is a formal dining, lounge with large open fire which was out of the original homestead so nice to keep part of the history. Down the hall is a guest bedroom and ensuite which is totally sperate for visitors to the property. The laundry is typical of a homestead being large with plenty of room to work in. The double garage is large with plenty of room for two cars plus storage for bikes, gear etc.
Upstairs is the family area with four bedrooms. The main bedroom, ensuite and walk -in-robe is very luxurious and sunny plus opens up to deck. A great place to retreat to for some quiet time when the house is full. There are three other bedrooms for the children and grandchildren with a large bathroom to service these. All of these also open up to north facing decks.
We have totally rebuilt this homestead which has been refined to the latest designs and products for the generations to enjoy. Gregg Architectural Builders is very proud of what we have achieved and also the long relationship with the Anderson Family.
